For: Quality cabin, stylish good looks, nice to drive
Against: Kodiaq is cheaper, not a true seven-seater
Verdict: Seat’s third SUV is its best yet
REVIEW
Closely related to the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, the Seat Tarraco is arguably the best looking of the trio.
It sits 20mm lower than the Kodiaq, which improves its appearance and helps deliver a slightly more engaging drive. It’s not a sporting SUV, but the Tarraco has ride and handling characteristics that belie its lofty stance.
This isn’t a proper seven-seater, however. Think of it as a ‘5+2’, with the rearmost seats best reserved for small children.
Inside, the Tarraco offers a pleasingly premium feel. Standard kit is generous, while the quality of the cabin is on par with the Tiguan Allspace.
A 1.5-litre petrol engine and a pair of 2.0 diesels are available, while a seven-speed DSG auto transmission and four-wheel drive are optional.
The Tarraco feels more premium and looks more stylish than the Kodiaq, but the Skoda offers better value for money.
