- For: Styling, interior space, cabin quality
- Against: No seven-seat option, lack of choice
- Verdict: Roomy, leftfield family SUV that needs a seven-seat option
The Renault Koleos is a bit of an oddball.
It’s large enough to offer a third row of seats, but as a strict five-seater, you have to question why you’d choose one over the cheaper Kadjar.
Well, for one thing, it looks better than the Kadjar, being able to rub shoulders with some of the premium cars in the large SUV segment.
Secondly, it offers a huge amount of interior space, with plenty of room for rear-seat passengers and a large boot.
Prices start from £29,000 for the well-equipped (and ambitiously named) Iconic model, with the flagship GT Line costing an additional £2,000.
There are two diesel engines: a 150hp 1.7-litre and a 190hp 2.0, with the latter adding four-wheel drive to the mix. The standard X-Tronic CVT auto transmission is surprisingly good.
The Koleos is a niche SUV, but maybe it’s good to stand out.
