- For: Performance, handling, technology
- Against: Bigger than ever, expensive
- Verdict: A rich blend of performance, technology and driving enjoyment
Few cars are as recognisable as the Porsche 911.
The current ‘992’ generation is the most accomplished 911 to date, but still amply exciting to its fanatical fanbase.
The core 911 range is split into three models: Carrera, Carrera S and Carrera 4S, with the latter driven through all four wheels.
Further models will be added as the 911 matures, including a super-quick Turbo, visceral GT3 and track-focused GT3 RS.
Prices start from £83,000, but there are many options on top of that. A Cabriolet version is available on the three core models, typically adding around £10,000 to the price.
While some yearn for the days when the 911 was a smaller and simpler affair, few cars offer such a rich blend of performance, capability and tech.
There’s even room for a couple of small children in the back – not something most of its rivals can offer.
