- For: Styling, cabin quality, good to drive
- Against: Small boot, cramped in rear, can get expensive
- Verdict: Great to drive, even better to look at
The Peugeot 508 is here to show SUV drivers what they’re missing.
Not only is it one of the best looking cars on sale today, it also offers a driving experience that few off-roaders can match.
There are two versions available: Fastback (saloon) and SW (estate), while quality is more than a match for the premium cars in this segment.
There’s plenty of space for the driver and front-seat passenger. It’s not so good in the back, especially in the Fastback, where the sloping roof restricts headroom for tall passengers.
Engines include two versions of Peugeot’s 1.6-litre PureTech petrol, two 1.5 diesels and a pair of 2.0 diesels. All come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the 1.5 diesel, which uses a six-speed manual.
A plug-in hybrid version completes the range. The 508 is decent to drive, regardless of engine, with impressive levels of comfort and refinement.
