- For: Styling, space, avant-garde cabin
- Against: Tight third-row seats, top-spec models are expensive
- Verdict: Brilliant seven-seat family SUV
The Peugeot 5008 is an excellent seven-seat SUV.
There are five trim levels: Active, Allure, GT Line, GT Line Premium and GT.
Were it not for the fact that higher trims offer a wider choice of engines, though, there’d be little reason to upgrade from the well-equipped Active.
The entry-level engine is a 1.2-litre petrol producing 131hp, while a 1.6 petrol is available on GT Line models. There are two diesel engines: a 1.5 developing 131hp, and a 2.0 producing 177hp.
Inside, the 5008 boasts an avant-garde cabin and two extra seats. The third row is best reserved for small children, but the extra space is great for growing families.
Fold the second row of the seats flat and there’s a massive 2,150 litres of luggage capacity.
Thanks to a refined and cosetting ride, the 5008 is one of the nicest SUVs you can buy, even if the top-spec models nudge the £40,000 tax threshold.
