- For: Devastatingly attractive, V8 performance, quality interior
- Against: Small boot, cramped in back, hybrid lacks theatre
- Verdict: Thunderous, tech-laden luxury coupe that’s as good as it looks
If you could pour a car from a bottle, the chances are it would look like the Lexus LC.
The flagship 2+2 coupe is a striking, Japanese take on the luxury coupe, with disarmingly attractive styling and huge presence.
Four years on from its launch, it looks as good as ever, although some might prefer the styling of the rival BMW 8 Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.
The striking exterior is matched by a bold interior, with a level of quality to match the Germans.
It works best as a 5.0-litre V8 luxury grand tourer, with the LC 500 boasting explosive pace and an evocative soundtrack, albeit without the precision handling you might expect.
The LC 500h features a 3.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain to keep running costs in check, but it lacks the noise and drama of the V8.
Pack light, because the boot is tiny and there’s very little room in the back.
