- For: Performance, soundtrack, practicality
- Against: Interior quality, media system
- Verdict: A thrilling drive – and a genuine Porsche 911 rival
The Aston Vantage is a sports car, pure and simple. Power is sourced from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 developing 510hp.
It’s enough to propel the Porsche 911 rival to 62mph in 3.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 195mph.
For a more hardcore experience, Aston Martin will sell you a Vantage AMR, while the Vantage Roadster offers a similar experience with a sun tan.
Unlike the 911, the Vantage is a two-seater, but there’s plenty of headroom and legroom on offer.
Interior quality is good, but the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz media system jars a little.
That said, it’s a markedly better car than the Mercedes-AMG GT it shares many parts with, and feels more bespoke and special than anything in its class. The AMG motor pops and spits with feral ferocity – making the Vantage deeply satisfying to drive.
The allure of the Aston Martin badge is powerful, too.
