Aston Martin DBS Superleggera review

From £225,000

The DBS Superleggera is Aston Martin’s answer to the Ferrari 812 Superfast. On the road, it is a relentless and extraordinary performer.

  • Aston Martin DBS Superleggera 2020
  • For: Performance, style, ride comfort
  • Against: Expensive, cramped in rear, switchgear
  • Verdict: Exhilarating cross-continental GT

The DBS Superleggera is Aston Martin’s answer to the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Power comes from a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12, backed up by carbon-ceramic brakes and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

With 725hp and 663lb ft of torque, it hits 62mph in 3.4 seconds, plus a top speed of 211mph.

There are four seats, but space in the rear is only sufficient for short journeys. And while quality impresses, the dated Mercedes-Benz media system looks out of place in a car costing £225,000.

On the road, the DBS is utterly relentless, with huge mid-range wallop that’s both hilarious and hugely addictive.

It might lack the fingertip finesse of the smaller Vantage, but it delivers on its ‘Super GT’ promise. Even in Sport Plus, the ride is commendably comfortable and the quad exhausts sound evocative, not flagrantly anti-social.

There are few finer means to tackle a cross-continental road trip – assuming you can live with the 22.9mpg thirst.
